This song came from a very deep place in my life. I know I’ve been running from God’s calling for a long time now, and needed a change. In the year of 2001, I drop out of College with dreams of becoming a super producer. Focusing on the wrong things had me chasing the money, girls and fam of the music industry. My mother raised me in church, and taught me that I had to put everything in Gods hands, but didn’t truly understand the Gospel at that age. I grew up playing drums/keyboard for the church, but never truly gave all my heart to God. I would say, around 2009 was when I really gave my life back to Christ, and started to receive the word differently. Its was still a battle with doing everything right in Gods eyes, but I’ve been focused on my soul now and seeking God for direction, daily. I’ve been in some of the biggest studios, hung around super star artist, and travel to network in cities like California, New York and Atlanta, but never truly got what I was searching for. The day I started focusing more on what God called me to do, was the day I stopped worrying about getting on. Finally realizing that what God had for me no man can take away. And my gift was extremely bigger than just selling beats to secular artist. I guess I can truly say… I was searching in a place I didn’t belong.

I don’t want to sell my soul for things of this world, things that I will never be able to take with me. I’m more focused on being a light in this world, and bringing souls closer to Christ. The more I ran from God, the more songs/ideas he would give me to write about. Showing me he was right there with me through every bad decision I made! Awaking my soul to truth. MY music is for worship, encouragement, and for those who feel like they can’t push anymore and life has beaten them up. I want people to hear this song and allow it to motivate them in times of feeling lost, and make sure your dreams line up with God’s purpose for your life. Don’t chase things of this world, but chase God with all your heart and soul, and HE will create a plate form for your gift!!! Not saying that nice things are from the devil, because our father God wants us to have nice things. He just wants our focus to be spreading the Gospel! We can’t take any cool rides, big homes, record deals and material things with us when we die, but we can take our souls! So that should be our main focus! I will never again let some a&r or music industry define what God has already blessed me with. I know my gift is meant for more than just “selling records.” Its meant to encourage, motivate, and spread the Gospel to the people that are lost, just like I was.
